Free £20 Gift Card to Supermarket of your choice

Dec. 3rd, 2014 | 05:20 pm
posted by: diana_molloy in loos_adverts

I was doing this on my fb but thought I'd post it here - which is why it's quite casual in tone and shortened words as I was in a hurry. People can contact me via PM.

"There are big organisations that do stuff but oft ppl aren't aware of them. And I'm not some big org or think I'm omg I'm nice, I don't want my ego stroked just I'm having a decent year financially so if you know ppl going without this xmas point them my way I want to give out gift cards to supermarket (of someones choice what good is offering sains if it's 2 busses away) of £20 to value of £160. I can either send it to them or to you if they don't want to be known. You can share this with ppl who might know someone even if you don't. I'm not asking anyone for proof of low income because that's shit and it's you to know if you're going without not me to decide or judge the money is to spend on what you want - the only reason for gift cards vs sending ££ is that there is a lot of postal theft this time of year."

Announcement: London BiFete, Sept 23rd (public post)

Aug. 26th, 2012 | 08:51 pm
posted by: booklectic in loos_adverts

Date and time: Sunday, September 23rd, 2pm till 5pm (and some of us will probably be staying for drinks afterwards)

Venue: the back bar of the Mad Hatter Hotel, which is on the corner of Stamford Street and Blackfriars Road, SE1 9NY (the nearest stations are Southwark, Blackfriars, and Waterloo). The Mad Hatter is wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet. It welcomes children, serves hot food and doesn't play loud music. In fact, we recommend it as a good place to hang out in general, so we're delighted that they've agreed to host BiFete.

Details: On the afternoon of Sunday September 23rd, the Mad Hatter Hotel in Southwark will be hosting a new event called BiFete - a free, friendly, low-key celebration for Bisexual Visibility Day in London. The details of the day will ultimately depend on who comes along and what you bring, but we plan for BiFete to feature:

Book and bric-a-brac swap

Story readings

Queery the Human Library

Magic

Tombola and Raffle

Craft corner

Board games

Photo projects

Music

and cake of course!

Plus the promotion of the bisexual community's projects, artworks, goods and services - if you've got something you want to promote, come along and tell us all about it! Bring a poster, bring business cards, bring artwork, or just come and talk to people about your work. (It doesn't have to be sexuality-related!)

We'd like to encourage people to bring books and bric-a-brac (for swapping), games, cake, and anything else that seems appropriate. Please note that this is a family-friendly pub-based event so any items brought should bear that in mind!

BiFete is a free event but you can make donations to cover expenses. If we have any money left over at the end, it will go to fund future bisexual events in London.

Want to get involved in any way? Email Katy via bifest2012 at gmail. com.

Hope to see you there. All flavours welcome (provided you're bi-friendly!)

Brixton Book Jam - public entry

Jun. 26th, 2012 | 02:41 pm
posted by: booklectic in loos_adverts

Next Monday, the 2nd, I shall be one of the writers doing a reading at the Brixton Book Jam. Details:

"The first Brixton Book Jam will be on Monday 2nd July, in the splendid surroundings of the Hootananny in Brixton from 7pm to closing time. Entrance is free but we’d really appreciate it if you bought some books."

I'm going to be reading from my genderswitched anthology and there's a really interesting list of other writers on the roster.

It's my first time doing anything like this and although I won't be reading my own words as such, I'm still terrified! Friendly faces would be great, if anyone wants to come. It should be a good night.

London BiFest is Back in Town (public entry)

May. 15th, 2012 | 12:28 pm
posted by: booklectic in loos_adverts

After a couple of years’ hiatus, London BiFest is back at a new venue! This year we’re holding our one-day event for bisexuals and bi-friendly people at Resource for London on Holloway Road, on Saturday 23rd June.

Join us if you’re bisexual or interested in bisexuality – maybe you have a bi friend or relative or partner, maybe you’re curious, maybe you’re just interested in talking about bi issues. Whatever the case, we’d love to see you for a day of discussions and socialising. There’ll be sessions on topics such as Intro to Bisexuality, How Bi is Bi?, trans issues and bisexual health.

We’ll have a craft corner and a reading corner as well as space for hanging out, so if you’re nervous about meeting people, we promise you’ll have things to do. We’re also hoping to provide some information on UK bi history, since this year marks the 40th anniversary of the UK’s first known bisexual gathering.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm with a break for lunch (which we don’t provide, sorry!) and will cost £10 for a full day or £5 for a half day, or £5/£2.50 for a half day with concessions.

In summary:

Event: London Bifest 2012, a one-day gathering for bisexual and bi-friendly people

Venue: Resource For London, 356 Holloway Road London N7 6PA

Website: London.bifest.org or find us on Facebook

Twitter: @BiFestLondon

Email:  info@london.bifest.org

Cost: £10/£5 concessions, £5/£2.50 half day only

Do spread the word!

Charity Xmas cards

Nov. 24th, 2011 | 01:26 pm
posted by: lecari in loos_adverts

As there has been some talk about buying charity Xmas cards recently I thought I would plug my charity's cards - I work for a charity called War Memorials Trust and we give advice and funding towards the conservation and preservation of war memorials in the UK (nationwide). This can be anything from repairs to lettering, adding names of servicemen/women (either from WW1/WW2 or more recent conflicts) to replacing metal elements that have been stolen.

Our cards have a Horse Guards parade design, which you can view and order online here:

http://www.warmemorials.org/shop

There is more information about the charity on our website and details of some of the cases we have funded, and details for sending a donation or joining as a member.

Thanks!
